Upgrade Testing for JDE Application

  • Customer is a manufacturer and seller of health supplements across the globe.
  • The customer planned for an upgrade of JDE application to JDE 9.2 version.
  • As a part of the program, the customer planned to test the upgraded application for financials modules.

Objectives / Challenges

  • Customers Oracle Financial system has several processes to test across the upgraded application.
  • The customer has done application testing manually by engaging several businesses and IT resources.
  • Customer does not have the bandwidth to test applications manually, hence decided to go for automated testing to reduce the cost of regression testing of the upgraded application, time, and improve quality.
Challenges

Solution Implemented

  • As a part of the testing process, developed automated test scripts repository for customer test scenarios used during the upgrade project for ongoing application testing for patches, new releases, and enhancements.
  • Modules automated were General Ledger (GL), Account Payables (AP), Account Receivables (AR), Fixed Assets (FA).
  • Over 70 automated scripts were developed spanning across their Oracle Financial systems core processes.
  • Developed the Functional test scripts and customize the scripts to incorporate the necessary logic to emulate the customer representative business transactions.
  • To improve the performance of the JDE system, provided the functional test report with observations and recommendations.
