Performance Testing – Oracle E-Business Suite Application

Project Overview

  • Customer is a large supplier of huge hardware and software products across a broad range of industries.
  • The customer planned to upgrade Oracle Applications Database of the Production system to 12c.
  • As customer completed the upgrade of the system, they decided to test the performance of the Oracle applications (E-Business Suite) at its peak load of 250 concurrent users.
Process Point - Customer

Objectives / Challenges

  • Customer objective is to perform a load test of the Oracle system using load generated from 250 virtual users.
  • The customer decided to conduct 2 full load tests, so prior to the second test they were required to test the database application for a full cycle by making changes to the server to match the production server.
  • The challenge was to test the oracle system using direct load on the EBS web server based on concurrent client user transaction simulation to improve quality and minimize risk related to performance requirements.
Challenges

Solution Implemented

  • Developed load test scripts using Oracle OATS Load test component (OLT) for 5 representative load test scenarios.
  • Conducted 2 dry runs of the load test to set up and tune the scripts.
  • While performing the load test, captured the load (server statistics) on all other servers of Oracle system (Web Server, Application Server, Database Server) in real-time.
  • Developed test scripts, once recorded can be reused and extended to cover more features and test cases by parameterizing the user input which decreases the cost and testing time.
