Automation Testing during Phase 2 Roll-outs for Additional Modules
Project Overview
- Customer is a large hi-tech entertainment publishing company.
- Customer embarked on a large multi-year, multi-phase Oracle ERP program.
- As part of ERP program, the customer has implemented Oracle Applications E-Business suite for Financials in Phase 1 in 26 countries and 15 new countries were added for Phase 2 rollout along with additional modules.
- Used OATS automated testing during phase 2 roll-outs across all 35 entities.
Objectives / Challenges
- New modules such as AGIS, EB-Tax, SLA and 15 new countries were required to be tested along with Phase 1 deployed entities.
- Automated testing was covering only Phase 1 applications and entities, hence customer decided to extend OATS automation testing for Phase 2 scope to reduce cycle time, cost and improve quality.
Solution Implemented
- Leveraged OATS (Oracle Applications E-Business Suite) environment 12.3.0.1 for extending the automation to Oracle E-Business Suite R12.
- Automated new modules such as AGIS, EB-Tax, SLA and 15 additional countries with inclusion of data variations.
- Several enhancements were automated as a part of phase 2 to improve business solutions.
- Prepared OATS scripts repository of about 130 scripts that covers testing of over 4000 scenarios across all entities and modules implemented.

- Ability to ramp up the business in additional countries quickly that were included as a part of phase 2 testing automation.
- Reusable of scripts from phase 1 to phase 2 (for new countries) had reduced the time phenomenally.
- Automated the scripts for the current and future business needs which can be further taken up as regression testing with simple data variations.
- Reduced the cycle time, cost and improved the quality.
