Financial Automation Testing and Global Implementation across Several Entities

Project Overview

  • Customer is a large hi-tech entertainment publishing company.
  • The customer has a presence globally in 26 countries and was embarked on a multi-phase Oracle ERP program. As part of that program, the customer has implemented Oracle Applications E-Business suite for Financials in Phase 1.
  • The customer required to test Oracle financial application across over 30 entities in multiple test cycles like CRP1, CRP2, SIT, UAT, etc.
Process Point - Customer

Objectives / Challenges

  • As the customer was implementing ERP systems for the first time,  they don't have the proper ERP specific test scenarios to test.
  • Since Oracle implementation was planned to complete in 9 months, there wasn’t enough time to test Oracle Applications across 30 entities in several test cycles.
  • Also, to test across several entities require a lot of testing bandwidth (Business users time) which as not available.
  • Customer hence decided to go for automated testing to reduce cycle time and reduce business users dependency.
Challenges

Solution Implemented

  • Implemented Oracle OATS (Oracle Applications Testing Suite) Rel 12.3.0.1 for Oracle Applications E-Business Suite version R12.1.x regression testing.
  • We developed manual scripts across 9 modules. Modules automated were General Ledger (GL), Account Payables (AP), Account Receivables (AR), Fixed Assets (FA), Cash, Purchasing, iProcurement (iProc).
  • Used OATS automated testing scripts during phase-1 implementation itself which helped customer to complete the global implementation in 9 months.
